Ciberseniors working days in Madrid: Open training resources in mobile applications to promote active aging in Europe
Active aging means that seniors can continue to be independent and autonomous, have a full life related to their environment and enjoy a relevant participation in society. Five organizations from Austria, Cyprus, Spain, Ireland and Romania involved in the project have had the opportunity to meet in Madrid on April 4, 5 and 6 to work together on resources for guided training of older people in digital skills , in a conference in which volunteers have also participated, contributing their point of view. These resources will be available in various languages on the learning platform focused on the elderly, which is being developed by Fundación Cibervoluntarios, coordinator of the project, and which will provide access to:
• Training resources in 5 languages
• Online self-assessment questionnaire, also in 5 languages.
• Access to video tutorials for continuous learning.
Ciberseniors, technology for lifelong learning
Ciberseniors focuses on training people over 55 years of age, in the use of applications for mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), which allow them to increase their autonomy, maintain their independence and continue carrying out the daily activities necessary for the development of their lifestyle. lifetime. During the training days, the results obtained in the "Focus Groups" carried out in the different countries with older people were presented, with the aim of involving them directly in the creation of training resources, from the beginning, and which have helped to outline the content of these resources. Specific training and advice has also been given to the people who will carry out the pilot training activities at the local level in the five countries. In it, the final content of the guides for facilitators, and of the presentations to work with the elderly beneficiaries, have been outlined, and topics such as common and national Apps for use by the elderly, basic introduction to the use of Tablets and Smartphones have been discussed. and tips for safe and responsible use of technology.
The consortium is made up of 5 European organizations, with experience in working with elderly people and in the development of projects focused on training and the creation of open educational resources: Fundación Cibervoluntarios, which coordinates the project, whose idea arose from a similar project carried out in Spain, with the intention of expanding its scope at a European level. Austria's Vienna Association of Education Volunteers and Ireland's Age & Opportunity provide insights from organizations working directly with older people. Synthesis Center for Research and Education of Cyprus will contribute its experience in the development of adapted educational resources, and the National Association of Women in Rural Areas of Romania will contribute the perspective of gender and that of the rural environment.
