Fundación Cibervoluntarios participates in Re-Discover Europe against Euroscepticism
Fundación Cibervoluntarios participates in the Re-Discover Europe event held in the city of Piatra Neamt, Romania and organized by Centrul de Incubare Creativ Innovativ de Afaceri (CICIA). This event is part of the European programme Discover Our Europe, coordinated by the French organisation CBE Sud Luberon. Its aim is to fight against Euroscepticism and to work towards a deeper understanding of the European Union among citizens.
The expected results of this initiative are to broaden citizens' understanding of the EU, how it works and how European policies work. It also aims to strengthen active citizenship, identify the sources of Euroscepticism, raise MEPs' awareness of its causes and strengthen European volunteering.
These events promote the history of the EU, its institutional functioning and other current issues, discovering European action in the member states in areas such as youth, mobility, agriculture or cooperation. In addition, tools such as the European Citizens' Initiative will be presented to show citizens their capacity to influence European policies.
The EU is the target of demagogic discourse, which has led to a rise in Euroscepticism. To remedy this, seven international events have been organised, including conferences and round tables open to the public. Finally, a final event will be organised in France, where MEPs will be presented with the results of the surveys collected at the different events, in order to identify the sources of Euroscepticism.
Alongside Fundación Cibervoluntarios, CICIA and CBE Sud Luberon, the following partners are also involved in Discover Our Europe:
Sojovem (Portugal), Drustvo Za Razvijanje Prostovoljnega Dela Novo Mesto (Slovenia), Eurocircle (France), Municipality of Pegeia (Cyprus) and Tudas Alapitvany (Hungary).
