Cibervoluntarios in the High-Level Policy Session 9: WSIS Action Lines and 2030 Agenda
One more year, Fundación Cibervoluntarios, will be participating in the WSIS Forum 2021 (World Summit on the Information Society). On this occasion, it will be focused on the WSIS Action Lines and 2030 Agenda, as well as the building of an enabling environment for the Information Society.
In the 9th High-Level Policy Session of WSIS 2021, that will take place next thursday, 25th of March, will participate Yolanda Rueda, President of Fundación Cibervoluntarios. The key element of the event, around which the session will be developed, is the assumption of the need of the commitment of the whole civil society in order to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With that in mind, the measures implemented by Cibervoluntarios to stimulate and promote citizen participation, taking Empodera.org as a reference, will be discussed and debated.
In order to sustain and promote WSIS lines of action in this sense, 15 years ago, Empodera.org was born. A social innovation ecosystem that highlights digital solutions improving the lives of people globally and promotes a collaborative network of citizens and social entities to develop shared solutions that boost 2030 Agenda and SDGs.
This 9th High-Level Policy Session will count with other participants, such as, Nele Leosk, Ambassador-at-Large for Digital Affairs of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Stephen Bereaux, Deputy Director, Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) or Pinky Kekana, Deputy-Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies in South Africa.

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was a ground-breaking summit sponsored by the United Nations and the International Telecommunications Union, that eases the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines to advance towards the achievment of the SDGs.
It is a scenario full of opportunities for exchanging information, creating knowledge and sharing good practices, while allowing for the identification of emerging trends and the promotion of associations, taking into account the evolution of the societies of information and knowledge.
