Fundación Cibervoluntarios' global alliances to celebrate Data Privacy Day
Fundación Cibervoluntarios celebrates Data Privacy Day 2021 remembering the important role of education in the promotion of data protection and in defending the integrity of information in the Internet. Since 2021, Cibervoluntarios.org has signed up several international agreements alongside organizations such as The National Cybersecurity Alliance or the ICT Coalition for a Safer Internet for Children and Younger People. The target of these agreements, as in the case of ITU Child Online Protection Initiative, is to generate a social conscience and to train the civil society as a whole, and minors in particular, in data protection and in the safe and appropriate use of the Internet.
Data protection and privacy in the Internet are two of the main lines of action of Cibervoluntarios.org. That is why, since december 2020, we are part of the Global Encryption Coalition, a project led by The Internet Society focused on guaranteeing that the Internet remains open, free and transparent for everyone.
Likewise, Fundación Cibervoluntarios leads several national projects, among which, one specially does stand out. The programme “Para, Piensa, Conéctate” offers a wide range of workshops provided in educational centers, aiming at training and raising awareness among minors in areas that go from the safe and responsible use of the Internet to preventing cyberbullying and online gender violence. In 2020 the programme has reached to over 2000 participants through our workshops.
In order to favour the construction of a safe Internet, Fundación Cibervoluntarios promotes data encryption, highlighting the value of protecting both, data and information flowing in the Internet. Only if every individual is aware of the importance of data encryption over our individual privacy, will we be able, as a society, to defend it as a fundamental right for all.
