Encounter "Gender 2.0" in Lebanon: exchange of experiences for gender equality among young people

We are travelling to Beirut, Lebanon to participate in the second encounter of the project Gender 2.0 from April 4th to the 8th, where we will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and digital tools with the goal of promoting gender equality among young people. This initiative, framed within the Erasmus + program of the European Commission, aims to give continuity to the topics already discussed during the first meeting held in Luxembourg last December with the following goals:

  • Exchange experiences and good working practices with migrant women.
  • Develop innovative capacity, especially that closely related to the use of digital tools to build measures to address gender inequality in the communities of the stakeholders.
  • Provide young workers with new working tools to combat the gender gap within their surrondings.

During the first day the partners of the organizations from Lebanon, Spain, France, Bosnia Herzegovina, Luxembourg and Armenia will participate in a collaborative session where they will share the results of the Hackathons held in Luxembourg. To this effect, a follow up on the digital tools created to tackle the gender gap will be made.

On the same day all participants will visit the Lebanese organization YMCA, born as a local organization to meet the needs of the youngsters. Currently YMCA has expanded the reach of its programs in response to the changing dynamics of Lebanon, becoming one of the leading civil society organizations in the country.

Among the other scheduled activities we would like to highlight the collaborative session to present the national policies applied in each country to assume new gender equality metrics and extract best practices to end any form of discrimination against women and girls. In addition, special emphasis will be placed on migrant and refugee women to share and implement measures that allow their inclusion in society.

The Gender 2.0 initiative falls within the framework of the KA1 - Erasmus + cooperation mobility framework and supports mobility in the education, training and youth sectors and aims to provide lasting benefits to the participants and the organizations involved.
